One thing to say about this guy was he was speaking on NPR the other day and wanted to dispel the concept that the world shares is that "America has been living beyond its means" (sort of like Ron Paul said) so this fall would be natural. He stated that this wasnt true and that Americans have been struggling just to break even for some time and the increasing amount of personal debt is direct proof of that.

No i dont think that dispels anything, now i dont think all Americans are living in mansions or anything but wouldnt it be fair to say that many Americans struggling just to break even with their homes, cars, college funds, etc are in fact trying to maintain a lifestyle that was beyond them in the first place? Many people around the world dont have 2 story 4 bedroom houses, not everyone in the world could ever afford to go to college, and not many people in the world have a car for each family member let alone more than just one. Just a thought from an American who is struggling to pay the rent on a 600sqft apartment and that is WITH a roommate, so when i look around and see certain people claiming they're "struggling" i cant help think that they are just scared of losing the incredible amount they already have and should be thankful for even a fraction of it, the bar has been set rather high.
