newtboysays...Hey buddy. Just a heads up. If you turn them into the EPA, you're protected by the whistleblower laws. That means they can't fire you after you turn them in....AND you get to keep 10% of the massive fine they should get for dumping what you've already dumped. Do it today. You probably already have cancer, and that neighborhood is now a cancer cluster of the future.
The person who directed them to do this should be locked into one of those drums for a week with whatever they're dumping. If there's anything left, prosecute him after that.
That said...."they told me to" is never an excuse for doing what you KNOW is wrong. Putting other's lives and health at risk to safeguard your terrible job makes you evil. Just saying.
CrushBugsays...I hear you, but part of the problem is that the company usually controls the worker's education for what is allowed by law. They probably feel like they are being lied to, but they can't be sure. Dumping is most likely not their primary job, and they probably get paid well, so they are usually quite worried about losing their job.

Good on this guy for suspecting things are not as they seem.

ceglisays...On the bright side, most of it appears to be highly refined mineral oil, which isn't very toxic.
Unfortunately a decent fraction of it is Dicyclohexylamine and 1,2-Benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one, which are both fairly toxic...
