Grey Diamonds optical illusion

All the diamonds are the same. It's quite simple. I just mocked up an example in Photoshop.

Each shape is exactly the same; duplicated and moved. They are all filled with the same gradient which goes from the html color #654e3c to #897664. The light ends being close to the dark ends makes it appear as if the shapes are getting darker toward the bottom. The light tan at the top reinforces the appearance, but if you crop that off, the effect is the same, but maybe slightly less "believable."
