I am a physicist working a grinding day job to support my passion for knowledge and fun. I was fed up watching bad TV and endless commercial breaks. So now I watch cats play the piano and all is well.

siftbotHappy anniversary! Today marks year number 6 since you first became a Sifter and the community is better for having you. Thanks for your contributions!

renatojj says...Interesting article, I wouldn't call it a good summary, but a biased assortment of opinions. Economics has, unfortunately, become a very convoluted subject permeated by politically motivated rationalizations and borrowed thinking. Not all of it is lost, though.
There are bigger names in economics that have stated the exact opposite, it doesn't mean anything. If you have doubts about free markets, bring them forward, try to understand at a basic level why they wouldn't (or would) work. I assure you it'd be more a fruitful exercise in understanding economics than to rely on foregone conclusions. In reply to this comment by rbar:
Is there anything in particular that stood out for you that you wanted to show me, was it the alleged defender of free markets' expert opinion on its impracticality?

Nice summary of some current thoughts on free markets ;-)

notarobotHey dude,
I was about to post this video, but I think you already did. The vimeo embed is a bit cleaner if you like. I expect I'll be spending some power-points on it.

ThrobbinThe entire full-length movie is good. Beautiful women, but a great story, some good laughs, and good characters as well.
Give it a go if you haven't yet.

Is the whole movie any good? I really liked the short, but I wonder if they can keep it up.
notarobotSweet! Thanks!

I accepted your invite. I've already added a few videos!
Glad you found the group playlist info. Djsunkid is a friend of mine. Its cool to see places where he's left a mark.
Let me know when you are making noise. I will help to make it louder.

Group Playlists
This is the grand-daddy of all the new features for v3.3. The idea was originally suggested by djsunkid at the Vancouver Sift Up as an alternative to the now extinct Collectives of old. This new feature is called Group Playlists and allows multiple users to collaborate over areas of similar interest. Here's an overview:
* A playlist owner can invite other users to join as group members
* Any playlist with one or more members is a Group Playlist
* Users can be invited to private playlists. This means you can have playlists only visible to a select few.
* The playlist owner can decide for each of their group members what powers they have over the playlist. The available abilities are: add videos, remove videos, delete playlist comments.
"
notarobotHi Robert,
I think group playlists used to be a separate kind of playlist, but I don't see that option anymore. I think you would just add a member now. If you decide to open up membership, you might want to think about a sift talk post to let people know. I'm sure you'll find more willing help and probably create a some more exposure for the playlist.
Have a good one!

Kind regards,
Robert

Have you ever thought about making a group playlist for TEDtalks? Might reduce the workload on you by allowing others to add to the playlist.
